Job Description:
Driver Hire are the UK’s largest specialist transport and logistics recruitment company. We provide driving and logistics staff to both local and national clients across a variety of sectors, offering flexible and reliable staffing solutions.
Driver Hire Basingstoke and Newbury are looking to recruit a number of Class 1 Drivers to help support the work that we are doing to support our local clients with their temporary staffing needs. The clients we support are based from Hook in the south of the region, through Basingstoke and Tadley, and up to Newbury and Thatcham in the north.
The work varies, and you could be driving a number of different vehicles for a range of different clients. You may be delivering to our client’s customers one day, or their local depots the next.
The days can be flexible to you, working as many or as few days as you wish. Generally the work is between Monday and Friday, but there may be occasional weekend working as well.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific Responsibilities for each client will differ, and they will be discussed with you when we talk about any assignments that we have available, but some duties that are general are:
- You will be required to do multi drop & collection work daily across the geographical region of the depot
- You will be required to carry out manual handling/loading of these products
- You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the vehicle.
- You must provide great customer service as you will be customer facing when carrying out these deliveries.
- You will work independently and unsupervised managing your routing to ensure planned collections are achieved whilst showing effective communication with the transport team.
- You will be expected to conduct daily safety checks on the vehicle and the equipment whilst following health and safety guidelines.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver CPC qualification & digital tachograph card, with at least 1 years driving experience
- If you are ADR or HIAB qualified, please indicate this on your CV.
- No More than 6 points for MINOR offences (No DD, DR or IN endorsements)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good organisation skills
Hours, Pay and Benefit
- Minimum of 8 hours per day (full day), or 4 hours (half day)
- £17.00 – £18.00 per hour – Mondays to Fridays (Dependent on Assignment)
- Enhanced Rates available at Weekends and Bank Holidays
- Rates are PAYE, and paid on a weekly basis.
- Holiday Pay paid on weekly basis
