If you’re a Class 1 driver looking for a stable, long-term home with a business that genuinely backs its people — this is the one.

The Role

  • Delivering temporary accommodation units to construction sites across the region for a well-established, family-run construction business.
  • Driving the HGV to site, working as part of a convoy — never on your own, always with backup.
  • Operating the lorry-mounted HIAB crane to load and unload units on site.
  • Working alongside a small, friendly team of drivers and site staff.
  • A real opportunity to learn, progress, and build a long-term career with one employer.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Monday to Friday only — no weekends, no nights out, home every night.
  • 7:30am start — far more civilised than the 5am/6am starts most HGV roles offer.
  • Family-run business — loyal, long-term employer, not a faceless corporate.
  • Convoy working — team-based, not isolated solo driving.
  • Local, regional work — Bedford, Caxton and surrounding areas.

Pay & Benefits

  • £20 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay) while on temp-to-perm — that’s a realistic £46,000+ per year at standard hours, before overtime.
  • Overtime available on top.
  • 45 hours per week — predictable, Mon-Fri only.
  • Workplace pension.
  • Permanent role following successful temp-to-perm period.
  • Long-term, stable employment with a respected local employer.

What We Need From You

  • HGV Class 1 (C+E) — full UK manual.
  • Valid CPC and Tacho card.
  • No more than 6 points on your licence.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills — you’ll be on customer sites every day.
  • Comfortable with manual handling alongside crane-assisted lifting.
  • Class 1 Unlimited HIAB ticket.
  • A genuine interest in building a long-term career with one employer.
