Job Description
Driver Hire/dh Recruitment (Torbay) is looking for professional HGV drivers across all licence categories (C1, C, C+E) to support our wide range of clients throughout South Devon. Whether you are newly qualified or experienced, we have flexible shifts, regular local work, and opportunities to progress your driving career.
Location
We have positions available across South Devon, including Torquay, Newton Abbot, Paignton, Totnes, South Brent, Kingsbridge, Salcombe, and surrounding areas. Roles are easily commutable from Exeter and Plymouth.
Salary
£16.81 – £21.01 per hour (PAYE Advanced). Employees will receive weekly pay, which includes a guaranteed minimum of 8 hours for each shift worked.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive HGV vehicles within your licence entitlement (7.5T, Class 2, or Class 1).
- Deliver goods across Devon, Cornwall, and occasionally further afield.
- Carry out vehicle checks and complete tachograph and delivery paperwork in line with regulations.
- Support loading/unloading safely (manual handling may be involved).
- Provide excellent service, representing both Driver Hire and our clients professionally.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Valid C1, C, or C+E licence.
- Up-to-date CPC and Digital Tachograph card.
- Maximum of 6 penalty points (no DR, DD, IN offences).
- Willingness to work early starts and handle physical aspects of the role.
- Own transport to reach client depots.
- Mobile phone for shift communication.
Desirable:
- Previous HGV driving experience.
- Interest in ongoing or temp-to-perm placements.
