Driver Hire & dh Recruitment (Torbay) is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice Recruitment Administrator. This is an outstanding opportunity to launch your career in recruitment while earning a wage and working toward a nationally recognised Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification. You will gain real, hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, people‑focused environment where no two days are the same.

Location: Currently located in Newton Abbot, our office will soon relocate to Chudleigh. Due to the nature of the job and the location of our office, candidates must have access to their own transportation. This is an office‑based position.

Salary: Starting salary of ÂŁ16,640 per annum in your first year, paid weekly. A salary review and increase is offered upon successful completion of your first 12 months.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:00 (30‑minute lunch break), totalling 40 hours per week.

Target Start Date: Mid to end of March 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to senior team members throughout the end‑to‑end recruitment process
  • Handling a high volume of inbound and outbound calls with candidates and clients
  • Conducting candidate interviews and assessing suitability for available roles
  • Explaining registration procedures and application processes clearly and professionally
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant records using in‑house IT systems in line with GDPR requirements
  • Assisting with driving licence verification, reference requests, and candidate database management
  • Advertising job vacancies across job boards and social media channels
  • Attending job fairs, career events, and community recruitment activities
  • Identifying new leads through candidate conversations and CV screening
  • Re‑engaging with previously registered candidates and nurturing ongoing relationships
  • Coordinating interview schedules and managing candidate availability
  • Contributing ideas and suggestions to support candidate attraction strategies
  • Carrying out general administrative tasks as required across the business
  • Joining the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota once sufficient training has been completed (not required immediately)

Qualifications and Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Confident and professional communication skills, both over the telephone and in person
  • Strong organisational ability and effective time management
  • A proactive approach and comfort with making regular outbound calls
  • Excellent written and spoken English, particularly for drafting and reviewing CVs
  • A genuine enthusiasm for helping people and solving problems

Desirable:

  • Experience or confidence using social media platforms in a creative capacity
  • A desire to build a long‑term career within recruitment, logistics, or business administration
  • Previous experience in an administrative, customer service, or telephony role (not essential)
