We are looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Tanker Driver to join our team, operating one of our client's state‑of‑the‑art, bespoke bulk water tankers.
You will be responsible for collecting and delivering water to various locations on site using a 30,000-litre bulk water tanker.
This is a great opportunity for a professional driver who takes pride in their work, operates safely and is comfortable working on busy construction and infrastructure sites.
You will be representing the company on customer sites, so a professional attitude, good communication skills and a strong commitment to health and safety are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 30,000-litre bulk water tanker and deliver water to various site locations.
- Carry out a daily vehicle safety check before leaving the yard and report any defects immediately.
- Keep the vehicle clean, tidy and in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Drive safely and courteously, following the Highway Code and all relevant road traffic legislation.
- Follow all applicable tachograph, drivers' hours, Working Time Directive and GB Domestic rules.
- Complete drivers' logbooks and tachograph requirements accurately.
- Follow all company Risk Assessments, Method Statements, policies and health and safety procedures.
- Follow site-specific rules and instructions when working on customer sites.
- Operate the tanker safely and appropriately for the volume being carried, including ensuring all valves are correctly closed before travelling.
- Follow all tanker‑specific training and procedures.
- Carry hazardous loads in accordance with company instructions, where applicable, including displaying the correct signage and carrying the required documentation.
- Report all accidents, near misses, damage and vehicle defects immediately.
- Use the vehicle's 360‑degree camera system and follow safe reversing procedures.
- Use the company tablet to update Big Change, our job management system.
- Wear the required PPE and safety footwear at all times.
- Maintain a professional attitude when dealing with customers, site personnel and members of the public.
Essential Requirements
Candidates must have
- Full HGV Category C+E (Class 1) licence allowing you to drive in the UK.
- Valid Driver CPC / DCPC.
- Driver Tacho Card.
SUD Training - mandatory, as required for FORS Silver compliance.
- Experience driving HGVs, ideally tankers or other specialist vehicles.
- A good understanding of drivers' hours and relevant driving legislation.
- A good understanding of vehicle safety checks and defect reporting.
- Good spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively with site personnel and other workers.
- The ability to work safely and follow site rules, Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
Candidates must notify us of any driving licence restrictions, points, convictions or medical restrictions that could affect their ability to drive.
