Driver Hire Southampton are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Goods In Supervisor to join a successful and growing business based in the Winchester area. Our client is a well-established supplier and distributor of cleaning, hygiene and janitorial products, supplying businesses across a range of sectors. Their extensive product range includes cleaning chemicals, PPE, paper products, gloves, waste sacks, cleaning equipment and other janitorial supplies.
The Role
As Goods In Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient running of the goods-in operation, ensuring deliveries are received, checked, recorded and put away accurately and safely. Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising the day-to-day Goods In operation
- Receiving and unloading incoming deliveries
- Checking deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes
- Identifying and reporting shortages, damages or incorrect goods
- Booking stock onto the warehouse system
- Organising and putting stock away into the correct locations
- Maintaining accurate stock records
- Supervising and allocating work to warehouse staff
- Ensuring the warehouse and Goods In area remain organised and tidy
- Working closely with purchasing and other warehouse departments
- Ensuring all health & safety procedures are followed
- Operating warehouse equipment/forklift where required
- Helping resolve stock and delivery discrepancies
- Supporting the wider warehouse operation when required
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a warehouse or Goods In environment
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience checking and booking in deliveries
- Good understanding of stock control
- A hands-on approach to warehouse management
- The ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment
- Forklift experience/licence would be advantageous
