About the Role:
Driver Hire Romford is currently recruiting an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver on behalf of a reputable distributor based in Purfleet. You will be joining a well-established, leading independent UK distributor, acting as the face of the business and delivering a professional, customer-focused service.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Safely transporting glass products and materials to customer sites
- Carrying out multi-drop deliveries, including deliveries into London
- Assisting with loading, unloading, and securing goods safely
- Collecting products from suppliers and preparing customer orders prior to dispatch
- Ensuring all goods are delivered in first-class condition
- Completing all delivery paperwork accurately and on time
- Building strong working relationships with customers and internal teams
- Representing the company as an ambassador, leaving customers with a positive impression
- Planning routes effectively using local area knowledge
- Maintaining high health & safety standards at all times
- Ensuring vehicles and lifting equipment are used correctly and reported if defective
What You Need:
- A current and valid UK Class 2 (Cat C) Driving Licence
- Clean UK driving record – maximum of 6 penalty points
- Up-to-date Driver CPC and Digital Tacho Card
- Minimum 9-12 months of commercial Class 2 experience in the UK
- Strong knowledge of the local and London delivery areas
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A professional, reliable, and safety-focused attitude
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Own transport to commute to and from the workplace
- Good level of physical fitness – manual handling involved
- Punctual, dependable, and flexible
