Are you an experienced Class 1 Day Driver with an HGV/LGV Category C+E licence? We are recruiting for a well‑established customer in Portsmouth, being responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of temperature‑controlled/food distribution operations.
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category CE) licence.
- Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Previous Class 1 driving experience, ideally within temperature‑controlled or food distribution operations.
- Good understanding of driver hours, working time regulations, and road transport legislation.
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and maintaining product integrity.
- Flexible and reliable with a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 refrigerated vehicles delivering chilled and temperature‑controlled products throughout the UK.
- Ensure all loads are transported in accordance with temperature control requirements and company procedures.
- Complete deliveries and collections to distribution centres, food manufacturers, retailers, and customer sites while providing excellent customer service.
- Carry out daily vehicle and trailer checks, reporting defects promptly.
- Monitor and maintain temperature records where required, ensuring product quality is protected throughout the journey.
- Ensure all loads are secured correctly and transported safely.
- Complete delivery documentation, PODs, defect reports, and other transport paperwork accurately.
- Adhere to driver hours legislation, working time regulations, and company health and safety policies.
- Maintain regular communication with the transport office regarding route progress, delays, or operational issues.
