You will be tasked with business development in the Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, Northumberland & County Durham areas. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of the commercial transport industry - road haulage, logistics, warehousing, technical or industrial. You will be tasked with discussing our services with transport, warehousing and HR professionals with the aim to develop our business relations. However, you may just have heaps of customer service experience and enjoy talking to people - and happy to learn about a new industry as you train with us.
This role will involve face to face, onsite meetings at our clients’ premises. This could be in the yard of a builders merchant, the local office of a food wholesaler or the head office of a national haulier. Each day and each client will always vary. To enable these meetings you will have made phone calls, sent emails and used a variety of social media platforms to gain interest.
We have a variety of internal and industry acquired reports available to assist build pipelines and focus your targets, however nothing is better than local knowledge of these areas and contacts in our industry. As your understanding develops of our business model you will be given responsibility to price contracts, enter client negotiations and submit proposals for PSL consideration.
Back in the office you will have a team working to support your efforts, they will be recruiting the best candidates and developing relationships on that side of the business. This ensures the clients you are meeting needs are always fulfilled. Nothing beats on the job training and learning from your colleagues, however as a business we can offer online virtual platforms, group sessions and a week intense course at head office - again each person’s needs are different just like our clients and candidates.
This is an office based position, working Monday to Friday 0900 - 1700 with some flexibility. There is a requirement to travel to our client’s premises for which a pool car is available or mileage is paid.
