Driver Hire Newcastle & Sunderland is looking to recruit a safety technician for one of our clients in South Tyneside on a temp-to-perm contract for the right candidate. You will be responsible for efficiently maintaining our extensive safety equipment hire fleet as well as offering repair, service, and calibration support to our customers from our national service centres.

Your day-to-day role will include:

  • Carrying out comprehensive safety checks including the testing, maintenance, and calibration of all hire and customer-owned equipment, ensuring all necessary documents are completed, both physically and digitally.
  • Managing workloads, prioritising work efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintaining the workshop and equipment as required, ensuring sufficient volumes of core hire equipment are always available for hire, and maintaining stock of spare parts for repairs.
  • Providing support to customers and their national teams via telephone and email.
  • Attending internal and external training courses as required.
  • Raising purchase orders, quoting customers based on estimations received, and organising distribution.

Full training on the equipment and systems will be provided both in-house and by manufacturers for official manufacturer certification.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A high level of IT literacy.
  • Experience in the hire and survey industry is beneficial.
  • A desire to deliver results and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Drive and motivation to learn, along with problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and being a team player.
  • A Full UK Driving Licence is preferred.

You will be working Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 17:00. Competitive salary based on experience.
