The Class 2 LGV Driver / Transporter is responsible for transport and logistics operations for an industry-leading manufacturer, ensuring the safe and timely movement of materials and products. The role also supports product testing and on-site logistics activities. Varied working pattern, driver will need to be flexible on working hours and overnight stays will be required at least twice per month.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vehicle & Compliance
    • Ensure vehicle is roadworthy, fully maintained, and compliant with UK legal and company standards
    • Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
    • Maintain compliance with MOT, fleet, and site safety requirements
    • Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate PPE
    • Report hazards or incidents promptly
  • Transport & Logistics
    • Plan efficient routes to optimise time, cost, and fuel usage
    • Carry out deliveries, collections, and returns between suppliers, customers, and internal teams
    • Supervise and assist with safe loading/unloading in line with regulations
    • Ensure goods are secure, labelled, and protected during transport
  • Documentation
    • Maintain accurate logbooks, mileage records, and delivery documentation
    • Complete paperwork and update internal systems as required
  • Operational Support
    • Assist with pre- and post-testing activities (cleaning, packing, movement of products)
    • Liaise with Line Manager and Product Quality Engineer to support schedules
    • Report and follow up on quality issues or non-conformances
    • Identify opportunities for process and workflow improvements

Requirements

  • Valid Category C (HGV Class 2) licence with CPC
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a professional driver
  • Production Experience (desirable)
  • Valid Forklift Licence (desirable)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 (desirable)
  • Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physically capable of manual handling tasks
  • Good numeracy and IT skills (Microsoft Office)
