Accessible Transport | SEND & SEN Services
The Role at a Glance
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role at the heart of a private accessible transport service. You will support the Transport Service Manager and step up as Manager-on-Duty when needed. You will plan and coordinate daily routes for adults with learning disabilities and SEN children and young people (ages 5-25), keeping a 13-vehicle fleet running safely, smoothly, and on time - with people always coming first.
What You Will Be Doing
- Route Planning & Scheduling
- Create and manage daily routes and timetables
- Allocate drivers, passenger assistants, and vehicles
- Optimise routes for efficiency, punctuality, and individual needs
- Keep route plans and journey times accurate and up to date
- Day-to-Day Operations
- Manage last-minute changes (absences, cancellations, timetable updates)
- Respond calmly to live issues like delays, breakdowns, or staff shortages
- Work closely with the Transport Manager to keep services moving
- SEND & Passenger Support
- Ensure transport meets EHCP requirements and risk assessments
- Clearly communicate passenger needs to staff
- Handle sensitive information with care and confidentiality
- Communication & Relationships
- Be a key contact for schools, colleges, families, and care providers
- Share service updates, delays, and route changes clearly and professionally
- Build strong, positive working relationships
- Systems & Admin
- Maintain scheduling systems, databases, and records
- Update rotas, route sheets, and staff allocations
- Support reporting on punctuality, attendance, and performance
