About the Role
We\’re looking for a reliable and customer-focused HGV driver to join our Exeter-based team. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with a well-established timber merchant delivering to regular customers across the South West.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver timber and panel products safely and efficiently to customer addresses
- Represent the company positively with a friendly and professional attitude
- Check loads and handle materials safely (manual handling required)
- Review and plan delivery routes to ensure they\’re achievable within driving hours
- Communicate effectively with the sales and logistics teams regarding any delivery issues
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence including LGV entitlement
- Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph cards
- Good local knowledge of the South West – must be able to plan and adapt routes, not just follow a sat nav
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
- Good communication (spoken and written English)
- Basic computer literacy
Typical Day
- Start between 5-6am
- Complete planned deliveries to customers
- Return to Exeter depot
- Review next day’s run and plan delivery order
