Are you an experienced logistics professional with a passion for optimising operations and leading a dynamic team? Driver Hire Uxbridge are recruiting for a skilled Depot Manager to join our Hayes based client, a High-End Beverage Supplier! Supported by the Junior Transport Manager and Route Planner, your overall duties will be running the day to day operations within the warehouse and vehicle fleet, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and seamless coordination across both departments. Monday to Friday, 6am starts, 45+ hour week (flexibility is a must!) Paid O/T. Starting salary £63,000 Expected earnings between £70,000 (overtime and KPI bonus).
As a Depot Manager, your duties will include:
- Manage and lead a workforce of approximately 35 employees, including drivers, loaders, and warehouse operatives.
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment activities, including advertising vacancies, screening applications, conducting interviews, and appointing successful candidates.
- Handle employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary procedures, and employee exits, in line with company policies and employment legislation.
- Ensure efficient scheduling and timely departure of vehicles and driving crews to meet operational requirements.
- Conduct debriefs with returning drivers, addressing any operational, compliance, or service-related issues.
- Take a hands‑on approach to managing warehouse operations, spending the majority of time actively supporting and supervising staff, with 10-20% desk‑based duties.
- Oversee goods‑in processes, stock management, order picking, and loading operations – active on forklift.
- Within the transport team you will oversee and support the route planning function to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost‑effective multi‑drop delivery schedules.
- Manage the daily dispatch of vehicles for multi‑drop customer routes, ad‑hoc client requirements, and scheduled vehicle maintenance.
- Ensure all vehicles are checked prior to dispatch, confirming roadworthiness, damage status, and correct charging of electric vehicles within the fleet.
- Investigate and follow up on vehicle damage, delivery incidents, and operational issues, implementing corrective and preventative actions.
We are seeking a Depot Manager with the following qualifications and skills:
- Proven experience in personnel and warehouse management, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Strong leadership abilities with a track record of managing and motivating teams effectively.
- Outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with health and safety standards and warehouse compliance regulations.
- No more than a 45 minute commute.
