Driver Hire Edinburgh West are currently recruiting an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver on behalf of a well-established and respected company within the modular and relocatable accommodation sector. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity for a professional driver looking for long-term, stable employment with strong earning potential and benefits.
The Role
- Responsible for the safe and efficient delivery, collection, and positioning of modular and portable accommodation units across Scotland and the wider UK.
- Key duties include:
- Delivering and collecting modular buildings, portable cabins, welfare units and associated equipment
- Operating Class 1 vehicles with trailers at all times
- Completing all delivery paperwork and hire documentation accurately and on time
- Liaising with the transport and depot team regarding schedules and any delays
- Carrying out final checks to ensure units are customer-ready once sited
- Completing daily vehicle safety checks, including pre-use crane and lifting equipment checks
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures, and health & safety requirements
- Attending relevant training sessions and team meetings as required
- Undertaking additional duties as reasonably required
Work will involve both local and long-distance driving and may include overnight stays in the cab, depending on business needs. Flexibility for overtime at short notice is essential.
About You
- A valid Class 1 (C+E) licence
- A minimum of 2 years' Class 1 driving experience
- A valid Digital Tachograph Card
- A full and valid Driver CPC (DQC) card
- A professional, customer-focused approach
- The ability to keep vehicles clean, tidy, and well maintained
Desirable (but not essential):
- HIAB licence
- CSCS or CPCS card
- FORS Silver or Gold registration
- Experience in a similar role
This is a customer-facing position, so strong communication skills and a professional attitude are essential at all times.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with all health & safety policies while on site and in the depot
- Adhere to RAMS and safe systems of work
- Ensure loads are secured correctly and transported safely
- Record and report any damages, shortages, or vehicle defects immediately
- Manage tachograph records in line with legislation
- Use PPE correctly and work safely during loading, unloading, and yard operations
- Occasionally work at height using fall arrest and harness systems
