Driver Hire Edinburgh City is currently recruiting experienced Class 1 (C+E) Drivers to support a range of clients across Edinburgh City and surrounding areas.
This is a flexible, ad hoc role, ideal for drivers looking to pick up shifts around their availability while maintaining a great work-life balance.
The Role
- Carrying out daily vehicle checks before each shift
- Completing a mix of trunking and delivery work (local and occasional distance work)
- Transporting palletised goods between depots and distribution centres
- Minimal manual handling (forklifted on/off where applicable)
- Ensuring all paperwork and delivery records are completed accurately
- Following all driving laws, WTD regulations, and health & safety standards
Working Patterns
- Flexible shifts to suit availability
- Various start times available (days, backs, occasional nights)
- Weekday and weekend shifts available depending on client demand
- Typical shift length: 8-12 hours
Pay Rates
PAYE:
- £15.50 per hour
- £20.66 per hour (overtime after 8 hours)
PAYE Advanced:
- £17.37 per hour
- £23.15 per hour (overtime after 8 hours)
Minimum 8 hours' pay per shift guaranteed
Weekly pay
Holiday pay accrued (included in PAYE Advanced rate)
What You'll Need
- Valid UK Class 1 (Category C+E) licence
- Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card
- No more than 9 penalty points (no major endorsements)
- Minimum 1 year of HGV driving experience
- Reliable, professional, and safety-conscious approach
Additional Information
- Drug and alcohol testing may be carried out at induction and randomly
- Full induction and site training provided where required
