We are currently seeking an experienced Class 1 (C+E) HGV Driver / HIAB Operator for a temp-to-permanent position based in Thornliebank, Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and growing construction business with the potential for long-term employment.

Pay & Benefits

  • £14.40 per hour for the first 39 hours
  • Overtime paid at time and a half after 39 hours
  • 5-day attendance bonus paid at your basic hourly rate
  • Average working week of 45-50 hours, depending on workload

The Role

As a Class 1 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe transportation and delivery of construction materials to sites using our tri-axle trailers, ensuring all loads are secured in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements. The role will also involve operating our Class 2 Rigid HIAB vehicle, delivering and collecting plant and equipment from various sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport and deliver construction materials safely and efficiently
  • Operate Class 1 and Class 2 HIAB vehicles as required
  • Ensure loads are correctly secured and compliant with regulations
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
  • Complete delivery paperwork and transport documentation accurately
  • Comply with tachograph regulations, driver hours legislation, and health & safety requirements
  • Liaise effectively with site teams and the transport department

Requirements

Essential

  • Valid Class 1 (C+E) Licence
  • Valid Driver CPC Qualification
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card
  • Good understanding of load security and transport compliance
  • Clean driving licence

Desirable

  • HIAB Certification
  • Plant Loader/Securer Ticket
  • Minimum 2 years' industry experience
