Van Drivers (Category B) required for ongoing temporary work across South Devon. Driver Hire/dh Recruitment (Torbay & Barnstaple) is recruiting experienced van drivers to support various clients operating in sectors including construction, food distribution, removals, manufacturing, and general logistics.
Please note: This is not parcel delivery work. This is an ad hoc driving role offering flexible work patterns, a variety of assignments, and the opportunity to secure temporary-to-permanent employment with some clients.
Location
Various locations across South Devon, including Torquay, Newton Abbot, Paignton, Totnes, South Brent, Kingsbridge, Salcombe and surrounding areas.
Salary
PAYE ADV £14.57 to £17.79 per hour. Other PAYE models available.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete multi-drop deliveries to commercial and residential customers
- Load, transport and deliver goods safely and professionally
- Carry out vehicle checks before and after each shift
- Operate a variety of vehicles, including Luton vans, long wheelbase vans, flatbed vans and refrigerated vans
- Deliver products such as building materials, timber, windows, doors, food products, hygiene supplies, furniture and general goods
- Maintain accurate delivery paperwork where required
- Provide excellent customer service during collections and deliveries
- Follow all road transport legislation and company procedures
- Be available for both planned assignments and short-notice cover when required
Qualifications
Essential
- Full UK Category B driving licence
- No more than 6 penalty points
- Previous multi-drop delivery experience
- Own transport to travel to and from client locations
- Flexible and reliable approach to work
- Ability to accept occasional short-notice assignments
- Good knowledge of safe loading and delivery practices
Desirable
- Experience driving multiple van types
- Knowledge of South Devon road network
