We are looking for HGV Class 1 and Class 2 Drivers for a flexible part-time role based in Newton Abbot, with full-time hours available during busier periods. Driver Hire/dh Recruitment (Torbay & Barnstaple) is recruiting for experienced Class 1 and Class 2 drivers to deliver palletised goods across the South West using curtain-sider vehicles. This is a great opportunity for drivers looking for ad hoc work with the possibility of securing an ongoing role with a reputable local business.
Location: Newton Abbot, Devon – Accessible from Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Paignton, Totnes, South Brent, Kingsbridge, Salcombe, and surrounding areas.
Salary: £18.49 per hour PAYE. Guaranteed minimum of 8 hours paid per shift. Paid by the hour, so the more you work, the more you earn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving HGV Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles safely and responsibly
- Delivering palletised goods using curtain sider vehicles
- Ensuring goods are transported securely and arrive on time
- Providing excellent customer service at delivery points
- Completing vehicle checks and delivery paperwork accurately
- Following all company procedures, transport regulations, and health and safety requirements
- Working Monday to Friday starting at 08:00 each day
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 C+E licence and/or HGV Class 2 Category C licence
- Valid CPC qualification
- Digital Tachograph card
- Minimum of one year’s HGV driving experience
- Reliable and professional approach to work
Desirable:
- ADR licence
- Experience using tail lifts
- Experience delivering palletised goods
