About The Role

You will be driving Class 1 articulated vehicles with refrigerated trailers, transporting temperature-controlled goods between distribution hubs and collection points. Most of the work will be across the UK, with occasional travel into France when required. You will be working from transport plans provided by the operations team, completing deliveries and collections safely, efficiently and on time. This is a role for an experienced driver who is happy with nights away, confident with drivers’ hours rules and comfortable taking responsibility for vehicle checks, paperwork and trailer temperature records.

Duties

  • Driving Class 1 C+E articulated vehicles with refrigerated trailers
  • Completing deliveries and collections across the UK
  • Travelling into France occasionally when required
  • Carrying out daily vehicle defect checks
  • Reporting any vehicle or trailer issues
  • Following transport plans and instructions from the operations team
  • Working within EU Drivers Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive rules
  • Completing delivery paperwork accurately
  • Monitoring and recording trailer temperatures where required
  • Keeping vehicles and trailers clean and presentable
  • Assisting with loading and unloading using pallet trucks or other equipment when required
  • Following company health and safety procedures

You Will Need

  • A valid HGV Class 1 C+E licence
  • A valid Driver CPC qualification
  • A Digital Tachograph Card
  • No more than 6 penalty points
  • A good understanding of drivers’ hours and transport legislation
  • Strong UK geographical knowledge
  • Good communication skills
  • A flexible and professional approach to work
  • Confidence working independently while tramping
  • Previous Class 1 Driving Experience is preferred.
  • A counterbalance forklift licence or powered forklift certificate would be useful, but this is not essential.
