Warehouse & Logistics Lead

Location: Sandbach Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum Hours: Monday - Friday Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity

We're working with a well-established and highly regarded family-run business in Sandbach that is looking to appoint a Warehouse & Logistics Lead to become a key part of their operation.

This is a hands-on role with genuine responsibility. Initially, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day warehouse and logistics operation yourself, with the position expected to develop into a people-management role as the business grows.

It's a great opportunity for someone who knows their way around a warehouse, understands what good looks like and is ready to take ownership rather than simply follow instructions.

The business has a fantastic reputation for looking after its people, with a loyal workforce and excellent staff retention. It's a friendly, family-focused environment where you'll have direct access to the owners, but they'll trust you to get on with the job, use your initiative and make sensible decisions.

The Role

You'll be responsible for keeping the warehouse and logistics operation running smoothly, accurately and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day warehouse and logistics operation.

  • Checking goods in and out, ensuring quantities, specifications and paperwork are correct.

  • Maintaining accurate stock control of gates, components and associated materials.

  • Preparing and organising goods for customer deliveries and collections.

  • Loading and unloading vans and vehicles safely and efficiently.

  • Physically handling gates and warehouse components - lifting is an essential part of the role.

  • Carrying out sawing, cutting and preparation of materials where required.

  • Completing quality checks on gates and goods before they leave the premises.

  • Ensuring orders are complete, accurate and ready for delivery.

  • Working closely with drivers and the wider business to keep deliveries on schedule.

  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe warehouse.

  • Identifying problems and resolving them proactively.

  • Looking for ways to improve warehouse processes, stock control and efficiency.

As the business continues to grow, the role will develop to include responsibility for managing warehouse staff, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to progress into a genuine Warehouse Management position.

About You

We're looking for someone who is practical, self-motivated and accountable.

You'll be comfortable working independently and won't need someone constantly checking in or telling you what to do. If you see that something needs doing, you'll get stuck in and sort it.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience within a warehouse, logistics or similar operational environment.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with goods in/goods out and stock control.

  • A practical, hands-on approach.

  • The ability to safely lift and move gates and warehouse components.

  • Confidence using basic machinery/equipment, including saws, or the willingness to learn.

  • Good communication skills when dealing with colleagues, drivers, suppliers and customers.

  • A common-sense approach to problem solving.

  • The confidence to make decisions and take ownership.

  • The ambition to develop into a people-management role in the future.

Previous warehouse management experience would be advantageous, but isn't essential. The right attitude, experience and ability to take ownership are more important.

Working Hours

Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 5:00pm Friday: 7:30am - 4:30pm

Occasional overtime may be required, which is normal within a warehouse and logistics environment. This could include starting earlier to meet a driver or staying later to ensure a delivery is completed and a van is loaded.

What's on Offer?

  • £35,000 - £40,000 salary, depending on experience.

  • Monday - Friday working hours.

  • A permanent position within a successful family-run business.

  • A genuinely friendly and supportive working environment.

  • A business with excellent staff retention and a strong reputation amongst its employees.

  • Real ownership and responsibility from day one.

  • A clear opportunity to progress into people management as the business grows.

  • Direct access to the owners, with the trust and autonomy to get on with the job.

  • The opportunity to become a valued, long-term member of the team.

Interested?

If you're an experienced warehouse or logistics professional who enjoys being hands-on, takes pride in their work and is ready for more responsibility, we'd love to hear from you.

This is an opportunity to join a business where people genuinely stay, where your contribution will be noticed, and where you can grow with the company and play an important role in its future.
