Spinwell is recruiting for a General Manager for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GENERAL MANAGER

The role of the General Manager for Urgent, Emergency and Acute care, within Integrated Adult Care (IAC) is to deliver the following services in line with the Trust’s patient promises and the Directorate’s focus on patient safety and patient experience:

  • Emergency Department (A&E)
  • Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)
  • Acute Medical Unit.
  • Medical Same Day Emergency Care (MSDEC)
  • Croydon Urgent Care Alliance (CUCA)

This is a high profiled leadership role within the Trust with an emphasis on operational delivery but also contributing to strategic director of the IAC Directorate.

The post holder will work with the ADO and Clinical Business Unit Leads to lead a team that will deliver the Trust’s patient promises within Acute Emergency services. The focus will be on ensuring the delivery of excellence with respect to patient experience and safety.

The post holder will make a contribution to the Trust’s overall strategic direction.

The post holder will deliver the relevant Trust targets, standards, KPIs and contractual requirements of GP commissioners, including through active negotiations with GPs and other commissioners.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE GENERAL MANAGER

  • Educated to First Degree Level and Masters or equivalent Qualification or experience
  • Post Graduate Management related qualification (or Corporate experience) in an Acute Health Sector Environment.
  • In depth knowledge of Health Sector practices and functionswith an Acute Hospital and current targets in place.
  • Knowledge of current legislation and NHS Policy.
  • Clear understanding of the NHS Agenda
  • Able to recognise and deliver exemplary customer / patient interaction.
  • Ability to inspire confidence and respect of others through excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to hold direct and non- direct reports to account.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • Self-starter – able to manage and organise own workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to establish sustainable working relationships internally and externally to the Trust.
  • Advance problem solving skills, innovative and creative thinker.
  • Advanced computer skills

  • Proven track record of senior operational management experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • High level of developed leadership and organisational skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and facilitation skills, with ability to gain and maintain credibility with senior clinicians.
  • Highly developed analytical skills.
  • Extensive experience of influencing decision making within a large and complex organisation.
  • Considerable knowledge & experience of emergency and acute care practice, e.g. queue management, alternative care pathways, HOT clinics.
  • Budget management experience.Specifically managing a budget whilst delivery CIP schemes.
  • Managing complex organisational change projects, including working with clinic / non clinical staff to change team structures and ways of working.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic individual prepared to drive organisational through change.
  • Creative and innovative approach to issues and the promotion of new ideas.Embracing change to work practices and service delivery.
  • Demonstrating positivity in the face of adversity.
  • Able to work autonomously as well as within a team.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
