One of our clients, a leading processor and recycler of WEEE waste in the UK with a location in the Thatcham area, is looking to recruit an experienced Maintenance Plant Fitter/Mechanic. Our client promotes and delivers a sustainable solution to the recycling of WEEE through the expertise of their staff alongside investments in modern technology. They have been established for over 35 years and have major contracts with businesses, utility companies, and local authorities.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday: 45 hours - Plus 4 hours Saturday mornings totalling 49 hours per week. Plus, overtime.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Main Duties:
- Inspect and troubleshoot industrial shredders, granulators, conveyor belts, and other plant machinery
- Fix faults on plant machinery or arrange for replacements to be installed
- Conduct inspections on plant machinery
- Carry out routine scheduled maintenance work for Lorries
- Preventative maintenance
- Welding activities when necessary
- Deal with breakdowns, unplanned problems, and repairs
- Check functionality of safety systems
- Fit new parts and ensure equipment is working correctly
Attributes and Experience:
- Previous mechanical and electrical experience
- Experience in repairing mobile plant such as forklifts and Lorries
- Background in Lorries (HGV) maintenance or any vehicle maintenance; not mandatory, but represents an advantage
- Experience in repairing any machinery such as conveyor belts, industrial shredders, granulators
- Experience in repairing/maintaining any industrial machinery
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems - represents an advantage, but not essential
- Welding skills
- Fault finding skills
- Good problem-solving
- Fluent English required
- Physically fit
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence
