Driver Hire Canterbury is currently recruiting for a Transport Scheduler on behalf of our client. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with transport planning or logistics experience. Working within a busy transport office, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating daily delivery routes, supporting drivers, and ensuring high levels of customer service and operational efficiency. This role would suit someone who enjoys problem-solving, route optimisation, and working in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Salary & Working Hours
- Salary: £31,000 per year
- Hours: 1:00pm - 9:00pm
- Working Pattern: Sunday to Thursday or Monday to Friday
- Permanent, full-time position
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule daily delivery routes using available vehicles, trailers, and driver resources
- Monitor and improve route efficiency, load utilisation, and drop planning
- Review planned versus actual routes and identify improvements
- Ensure drivers adhere to planned departure and return times
- Maintain accurate transport and scheduling data
- Liaise with drivers and internal departments to ensure smooth operations
- Provide support to drivers with route and location queries
- Handle delivery and despatch confirmations
- Carry out general transport office administration duties
- Operate weighbridge processes where required
- Monitor and reduce delivery returns
- Support continuous improvement of transport systems and processes
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in transport scheduling, logistics, or planning preferred
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Good IT and data entry skills
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads
