The Operations Manager is a key member of the DVSA Corporate Senior Leadership Team, responsible for the national delivery of operational services to meet customer expectations. Joining our department offers many benefits, including:

The post holder will lead operational delivery teams of 250-300 staff through supporting managers. They are responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery, value for money, and compliance with technical and quality standards. The role has a direct impact on road safety outcomes and involves developing operational processes, managing performance, and fostering talent development. The Operations Manager will also liaise with the Service Directorate, providing operational insights and supporting business improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Providing leadership, guidance, and influence to support objective delivery while maintaining integrity and upholding the reputation of the Agency and Civil Service.
  2. Leading vehicle testing operations across regional teams, ensuring quality and consistency.
  3. Ensuring network performance meets operational standards, quality expectations, and business targets.
  4. Maintaining effective communication with staff and management.
  5. Developing operational plans to deliver high-quality, cost-effective services.
  6. Driving improvements through QA, audits, and best practice adoption.
  7. Collaborating on strategic business planning in response to changing priorities.
  8. Acting as a liaison for specific services, providing operational expertise on legislation and improvement options.
