Are you comfortable interpreting regulations and legislation while maintaining a high standard of accuracy? If so, we'd love to hear from you!

This team plays a vital role in ensuring processes run smoothly, supporting the organisation through efficient coordination, clear communication, and accurate handling of information. Working in a fast-paced environment, the department collaborates across multiple levels, providing guidance and maintaining high standards when dealing with policy, compliance, and internal procedures. The team is detail-oriented and committed to delivering a reliable and professional service, ensuring both colleagues and stakeholders are supported effectively.

Joining our department comes with many benefits, including:

  • 25 days annual leave, increasing by 1 day each year of service (up to a maximum of 30 days annual leave), plus 8 bank holidays and a privilege day for the King's birthday.
  • Flexible working options where we encourage a great work-life balance.

The role supports the registration and oversight of Approved Training Bodies (ATBs) and instructors, ensuring all activities are accurately recorded on TARS (Testing and Registration System). It involves managing allocated training providers, handling registration processes, and making recommendations on approvals or removals. The postholder works closely with enforcement teams on compliance, site inspections, and industry standards, while also contributing to regulatory oversight. In addition, the role provides administrative support to the Motorcycle Registers Manager, including work related to the Enhanced Rider Scheme.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:

  • Processing all applications for ATBs, instructors and dealing with all related queries.
  • Obtaining representations from instructors and making recommendations to the CBT Registrar for both refusal and removal decisions.
  • Dealing with notification of instructors' driving convictions and issuing appropriate warnings or referrals.
  • Assisting ATBs by providing guidance to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements including compiling data from DL196 returns.

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with individuals, across teams and at various levels.
  • Ability to interpret regulation and legislation.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems, particularly Word, Excel and Email applications with associated keyboard skills.

Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week. Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week. This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders.
