As an Enforcement Delivery Team Leader, you will work within Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Delivery, primarily as a people manager, leading and supporting a geographically diverse team of remote-working enforcement colleagues. You will play a key role in assessing the roadworthiness and compliance of vehicles, drivers, and operators, directly contributing to improved enforcement outcomes and road safety.

You will be a vital member of the local network management team, advocating best practice and identifying cross-network opportunities. Through effective collaboration, you will support intelligence-led enforcement and wider engagement. You will lead and implement change, ensuring customer and stakeholder concerns are managed appropriately in line with DVSA expectations.

As a role model for engagement and inclusion, you will develop your team's capability and ensure delivery of high-quality, efficient services that meet customer needs and business plan targets, while providing specialist commercial vehicle enforcement expertise.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:

  • Delivery of high performance by providing high quality leadership, support and guidance, fostering colleague engagement throughout a nationwide enforcement network.
  • Coach and manage the performance of all team members ensuring they are trained, fully aware of required targets/quality standards and kept informed of any changes.
  • Take ownership for embedding a culture of continuous professional development and share best practice by communicating across the wider enforcement community to ensure the best outcomes.
  • Drive improvements to the performance and compliance of the team, recognising and rewarding good/exceptional performance and tackling issues promptly to enable better enforcement outcomes.
  • Understand operational objectives to prioritise, determine and plan team requirements and allocation of resource to achieve objectives.
  • Ensure all examiners and resources are deployed in accordance with national performance and business needs.
  • Take responsibility for monitoring and achieving key operational targets ensuring that the team fully understand their own objectives and contribution to achieving these.
  • Demonstrate leadership by providing guidance to staff to support the delivery of objectives. Manage and engage with honesty and integrity, and upholding the reputation of the Agency, Department and Civil Service.

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

  • Data analysis skills; able to interpret data and information to make sound decisions.
  • Coaching skills to develop others and improve performance.
  • High functioning experience of Vehicle or Traffic Enforcement.
  • Delivery of Operational targets to a high-quality standard.
  • Experience of high-quality casework submissions.
  • Flexible attitude to work, to deliver targets.

The postholder must meet the credible witness status in court proceedings on behalf of the DVSA. Any convictions or material casting doubt on the reliability of a witness could harm DVSA's chances of a successful prosecution and damage the reputation of the agency.

Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week. While we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part-time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 35 hours per week. This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
