About the role
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is responsible for keeping Britain moving safely and sustainably. As a Driving Examiner you will help ensure people get their driving futures off to a great start. We are looking for proactive, friendly and safe drivers who would like to train to become fully qualified Driving Examiners.
What you will do
- Work at local test centres grouped into clusters; training begins online, followed by practical training at a local test centre.
- Undertake practical training and up to three weeks of guidance at regional training facilities.
- Oversee seven driving examinations per day, engaging with customers and guiding them through instructions.
- Record results on a tablet and determine whether candidates meet the required standards, delivering both positive and negative outcomes with tact and diplomacy.
What we are looking for
- Hold a UK or EU driving licence for at least three years.
- No more than three penalty points on your licence.
- Good knowledge of the Highway Code and correct road procedures.
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills and a respectful, inclusive approach.
- Calm and unflappable under pressure and a safe driver.
