As a Driving Examiner you will be at the heart of this mission, as you will help us ensure people get their driving future off to a great start. We are looking for proactive, friendly and safe drivers who would like to train to become fully qualified Driving Examiners.
What you can expect
We will provide all the training you need to start your career. Our test centres are grouped into clusters; you will select a cluster local to you. After a job offer, you will begin training online, then undertake practical training at a local test centre. Following this, you will have up to three weeks of guidance at one of our regional training facilities before embarking on a varied career assessing the readiness of drivers seeking to obtain their licences.
Role and responsibilities
- Meet people from all walks of life on a day-to-day basis and oversee seven driving examinations per day.
- Use exceptional people skills to help nervous customers feel at ease and guide them through instructions.
- Record results on a tablet and determine whether candidates meet the required standards.
- Deliver both positive and negative outcomes with tact and diplomacy.
What makes a successful candidate
- Calm and unflappable under pressure; a safe driver who has held a UK or EU driving licence for at least three years.
- No more than three penalty points on the licence.
- Strong knowledge of the Highway Code and correct road procedures.
- Friendly, team-spirited, and committed to setting high standards for drivers to uphold.
- Respect for diversity and inclusivity with excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
