The role holder will be a subject matter expert (SME) working within a multi-disciplined agile team, creating product backlog items on the delegated authority of the Product Manager. They will represent the needs of potentially diverse stakeholders (with an interest in the digital product), and capture and translate those user needs into deliverables, ensuring the product meets user needs now, and in the future, as they evolve. They will ensure the product delivers the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) strategic and policy outcomes in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

Top Responsibilities

  • Work with the Product Manager to develop products from inception through to implementation — responding to legislative changes, technical progress, and customer demand to improve service effectiveness while keeping the customer at the heart of decision-making.
  • Analyse product data to highlight the benefits, costs, risks, and impacts of proposed changes, and use these insights to develop well-informed recommendations and proposals for key stakeholders and decision‑making forums.
  • Understand and represent customer requirements, ensuring that user needs are clearly articulated and incorporated into product development to drive better outcomes and service improvements.
  • Monitor product performance, including customer satisfaction, cost‑effectiveness, value for money, and risk—escalating concerns or opportunities to the Product Manager to support continuous improvement.
  • Provide expert product guidance and subject‑matter expertise to internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners, ensuring alignment with technical standards, business needs, and service‑level expectations.
