You will be a DVSA Traffic Examiner, contributing to road safety by conducting roadside checks on commercial vehicles.

Location: Abingdon, Bury St Edmunds, Carlisle, Crawley, Farnborough, Hull, Kendal, Newbury, Norwich

Salary: £30,485 – Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%

Top Responsibilities
  • Carry out roadside checks on vehicles and prohibit dangerous vehicles and drivers at various locations such as fixed enforcement sites, coach parks and motorway service areas.
  • Complete inspections of vehicles to ensure they comply with weight, operator’s licence, drivers’ hours, vehicle excise, driving licence and Construction and Use Regulations.
  • Inspect and analyse tachograph records for discrepancies or anomalies.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed reports and papers for prosecution cases or the Traffic Commissioner.
  • Answer driver’s hours queries from customers, offering advice, guidance and education as required.
  • Attend team meetings and collaborate with colleagues.
