Salary: £34,233 - A Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%

Contract Type: Permanent – Flexible working, Full-time, Job share, Part-time

This role involves managing a small team responsible for procuring supplies across approximately 600 properties throughout Great Britain, ensuring that frontline staff have the equipment they need to operate effectively.

The post holder will also act as a Contract Manager, overseeing the provision of tools, equipment, and services that support operational and enforcement activities. The role requires a strong focus on achieving value for money, maintaining best practice in procurement, and ensuring effective contract performance.

This is a diverse and varied role where no two days are the same. It also offers the opportunity to work with a wide range of stakeholders, allowing you to build strong relationships across the department.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Team Leadership: Provide direct line management to the Frontline Logistics team, ensuring effective execution of responsibilities in line with DVSA policies and processes.
  • Contract Management: Establish, manage, and monitor a range of contracts to support the operational needs of DVSA’s frontline staff.
  • Procurement Oversight: Assess business requirements for goods and services—including tools, equipment, and supplies—ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements, collaborate with stakeholders to implement changes, and communicate updates effectively.

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following:

  • Sound knowledge of IT, including MS Office, Outlook and Teams
  • Knowledge of procurement practices
  • Knowledge of managing contracts

You will be an effective and visible leader, capable of setting clear direction, motivating others, and driving performance to achieve team and organisational objectives. With strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes, you will ensure services meet both customer and operational needs. You will collaborate effectively across teams and departments, resolving issues constructively and managing stakeholder expectations professionally. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely to a wide range of audiences.
