The DVLA and Inspire People are partnering together to bring you an exciting opportunity for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Wintel) to help manage and maintain the core infrastructure that underpins DVLA’s production services. £44,445 plus up to £14,756 Government Digital and Data (GDaD) Allowance and up to £4,000 out of hours allowance and excellent Civil Service benefits and 28.97% pension. Responsibilities
- To support, maintain, administer and build Windows/VMware infrastructure to ensure services are integrated, delivered and operated as required.
- To work with and support colleagues, taking ownership for complex infrastructure issues, engaging and coordinating across multiple infrastructure and application areas until resolution is achieved.
Person Specification
About You
You will already be an experienced, Senior Infrastructure specialist with comprehensive knowledge of Windows Server and related ancillary products, including clustering, and you will also have an equal level of experience in supporting, maintaining, administering and building VMware ESXi infrastructure. You will be proactive in maintaining and monitoring systems to ensure remedial steps are taken before issues arise but also comfortable and confident when reacting to issues if they do occur, acting as an escalation point for more junior engineers. You should be adept in problem solving and be able to demonstrate a methodical and thorough approach to troubleshooting. You will also possess excellent communication and team working skills, and be capable of acting as an escalation point for issues experienced between application and infrastructure teams, working in a collaborative manner to achieve resolution.
