  • What will you be doing

We are recruiting an engineer for the integration and detailed design of electric propulsion and actuation systems.

This will include the design of casings to integrate mechanical, electrical, and thermal subsystems.

System simulation and analysis will be required in the following areas: thermal, structural, efficiency and NVH.

The role involves operating in a dynamic project environment including technical, commercial and customer management.

Key responsibilities

  • Utilising state of the art simulation techniques and design tools to design, develop and prototype electric motor or power electronic systems including inverters, DC‑DC converters, and On-Board Chargers (OBCs)
  • Develop mechanical system concepts and requirements
  • Detailed mechanical system design including producing 3D CAD, technical drawings, conducting tolerance stack analysis, Bo M management, and component release
  • Hands‑on build support and issue resolution
  • Helping to combine and develop new techniques and analysis methods for use within the company
  • Responsible for the delivery of technical work packets and whole projects
  • Applying your existing experience in specifying materials, processes, and design applicable for the function of the components
  • Engineering through design tools, calculations, analysis, simulation, drawings, and technical reporting
  • Managing your own and others workload within small to medium sized projects
  • Undertaking work with a high level of autonomy and communicating effectively throughout the business
  • Supporting technical capability initiatives within the Electrified Powertrain function
  • Independently and confidently presenting influential material to peers, customers, and technical forums
  • Taking ownership of proposals/quotes from initiation through submission with the client
  • Strive to continuously improve individual performance through the acquisition of new skills and knowledge
  • Collaborating with colleagues, clients, stakeholders and contributing to the team ethic at work
  • Developing your personal reputation with your peers and within customers and suppliers as an ambassador of DSD

  • What you will need
  • Degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • Proven experience of electric motor or power electronic systems design and/or analysis and simulation
  • High standard of competency in design and/or CAE analysis of electric motor or power electronic systems
  • A track record of innovation to benefit the outcome of powertrain projects
  • Proven successful leadership of small to medium sized projects both technically and commercially
  • Proficiency in some of the key software packages within electrified powertrain engineering (Creo, NX, Catia, Solid Works, MATLAB, Ansys toolchain)
  • A strong understanding of the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering and experience in applying them to solve complex problems
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills
  • Experience of operating within an engineering consultancy organisation
  • A genuine interest in engineering, industry developments, and customer needs
