Based primarily in York - YO26 6RB with occasional travel to Hessle and Scarborough sites. Salary is tailored to each candidate, dependant on experience and exposure to the role. Monday to Friday - 8.30am - 5pm - 1 Hour Lunch - 37.5 Hours per week.
The role: Drive Motor Retail is seeking an experienced Regional Financial Controller to oversee financial operations across our York, Hessle and Scarborough sites. This is a senior finance position within the group, responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, compliance and operational control across multiple sites. The successful candidate must have current experience within the automotive retail sector and be confident operating with responsibilities of the York site and assisting surrounding sites as required. We are looking for a highly capable individual who is accustomed to large responsibility roles, capable of managing financial governance while supporting operational leadership across the dealerships.
The Financial Controller will hold responsibility for the financial performance, reporting accuracy and compliance of the York, Hessle and Scarborough locations. You will work closely with dealership management teams and the central finance function to ensure strong financial control and reporting standards. This role requires an individual with the ability to operate independently while maintaining high levels of accuracy, organisation and commercial awareness.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee financial control and reporting across the York, Hessle and Scarborough sites.
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed and maintained to a high standard.
- Monitor working capital, accruals, prepayments and provisions across all locations.
- Work closely with General Managers to support financial performance and operational decision-making.
- Maintain accurate sales, purchase and nominal ledgers across the sites.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer financial reporting requirements.
- Monitor departmental profitability and highlight any financial risks or opportunities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning across the dealerships.
- Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE and other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Work with the central finance function to maintain consistency in financial processes and reporting standards.
- Must currently be working within the automotive retail / motor trade sector.
- Proven experience as a Dual Site Financial Controller or Senior Dealership Accountant.
- Strong understanding of motor trade accounting systems (DMS).
- Ability to manage large financial responsibility across multiple operations.
- Strong organisational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work closely with senior leadership and operational management.
- Highly professional with a structured and process-driven approach.
