Be the voice that challenges. The expert people trust. The leader who helps shape better outcomes. Are you a compliance professional who thrives on influence rather than enforcement? Do you enjoy being at the heart of business decisions, providing trusted advice, robust challenge and practical solutions that protect customers while supporting commercial growth? If so, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

We're looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to play a pivotal role within our Risk & Conduct function. This isn't a "tick-box" compliance position. It's an opportunity to genuinely influence strategy, shape governance, champion Consumer Duty and help create an environment where doing the right thing for customers is simply how business is done.

You'll work closely with senior leaders across the organisation, acting as a trusted advisor on regulatory matters, driving continuous improvement and helping embed a culture of accountability, compliance and customer-first thinking.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading compliance monitoring activity and regulatory returns
  • Providing senior-level advice and challenge to business stakeholders
  • Monitoring FCA and regulatory developments and translating them into practical action
  • Delivering insightful compliance reporting, identifying trends, risks and opportunities
  • Owning policy governance and ensuring accountability across the business
  • Leading due diligence activity across suppliers and outsourced partners
  • Acting as a key subject matter expert on Consumer Duty, conduct risk and governance
  • Reviewing and approving financial promotions and customer communications
  • Leading GDPR and data protection activities, including DPIAs, SARs and privacy governance
  • Designing and delivering engaging compliance training and awareness initiatives
  • Helping senior leaders understand the operational impact of regulatory change

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Influence senior decision-makers across the organisation
  • Shape regulatory strategy and compliance culture
  • Drive meaningful improvements to customer outcomes
  • Build trusted relationships across multiple business areas
  • Operate with genuine autonomy and accountability
  • Make a visible impact on governance, conduct and business performance

If you're motivated by influence, improvement and making a difference rather than just policing processes, you'll be right at home here.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with commercial awareness and strong stakeholder management skills. You'll likely bring:

  • Significant experience within Compliance, Risk or Regulatory functions within Insurance or Financial Services
  • Strong working knowledge of FCA regulation, Consumer Duty, Conduct Risk and Financial Promotions
  • Experience leading compliance monitoring, assurance, regulatory change or governance activities
  • A track record of providing credible challenge and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience producing meaningful management information and compliance reporting
  • Confidence making recommendations and leading conversations around risk, regulation and customer outcomes

Desirable Qualifications

While not essential, we'd welcome applications from candidates with:

  • ICA Certificate, Advanced Certificate or similar Compliance qualification
  • Insurance qualifications (IF1, IF2, IF3, IF4 or equivalent)
  • Data Protection qualification or significant GDPR/privacy experience

The Person

You'll be someone who:

  • Isn't afraid to ask the difficult questions
  • Balances regulatory expectations with commercial understanding
  • Builds credibility through expertise and integrity
  • Thinks strategically while remaining practical
  • Can challenge constructively and influence positively
  • Is passionate about delivering great customer outcomes
  • Wants to help shape the future of compliance rather than simply maintain it
