Senior Manager, Product Stewardship is responsible for leading global product stewardship efforts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving sustainability initiatives related to product safety and lifecycle management. This role provides strategic leadership and technical expertise to guide the safe development, use, and endâofâlife management of products, in alignment with business goals and global regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement global product stewardship strategies, policies, and programs.
- Collaborate with crossâfunctional teams (R&D, Legal, Regulatory, EHS, Marketing, Supply Chain) to ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with global chemical/product regulations (e.g., REACH, TSCA, GHS, RoHS, Prop 65, EU MDR, etc.).
- Lead risk assessments and support the development of safeâuse instructions, hazard communications, and labeling requirements.
- Monitor regulatory trends and emerging issues, assess business impact, and guide proactive compliance strategies.
- Product Lifecycle Stewardship
- Support sustainable product design and circularity initiatives (e.g., recyclability, ecoâdesign, extended producer responsibility).
- Lead product impact assessments (e.g., life cycle assessments, environmental footprint analysis).
- External Engagement
- Represent the company in industry trade associations, technical committees, and regulatory stakeholder forums.
- Build relationships with regulatory bodies, NGOs, and external partners to influence and anticipate regulatory developments.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of product stewardship and regulatory professionals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, scientific integrity, and proactive stewardship.
Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, or related field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
- Experience
- 10+ years of experience in product stewardship, regulatory affairs, or EHS within a global organization.
- Strong knowledge of global regulatory frameworks and product safety standards.
- Proven track record of influencing senior leadership and crossâfunctional teams.
- Skills
- Exceptional strategic thinking and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex scientific and regulatory data to drive decisions.
- Experience managing teams and leading complex, crossâfunctional projects.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in industryâspecific regulations â e.g., cosmetics, electronics, pharmaceuticals, agriculture.
- Familiarity with tools such as IUCLID, SAP EHS, LCA software, or regulatory databases.
