The VP, Medical at EVERSANA INTOUCH will lead the Medical team across a large network affiliate, managing brands in multiple disease states for a diverse range of clients including Marketing, Medical Communications, Medical Affairs, and Market Access. This role provides strategic and scientific direction to various teams, ensuring the creation of compelling and clinically accurate content. The VP will identify new clinical trends, analyze clinical data, and participate in medical conferences to drive opportunities for clients and the agency. Additionally, this position involves leading and mentoring Medical team members, guiding the creation of promotional materials, and consulting on medical content production. The VP will also improve medical literacy across agency groups, guide submissions for client medical/regulatory approval processes, and maintain significant client partnerships and new business activities. This high-profile role requires a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of disease states, clinical trials, treatments, and competition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Head of the Medical team on a large network affiliate comprising brands in multiple disease states across a range of clients including Marketing, Medical Communications, Medical Affairs, and Market Access.
  • Provide strategic and scientific direction to Medical, Creative, Account and Planning teams for the creation of compelling content.
  • Identifying new clinical trends and implementing disease state knowledge to drive opportunities for clients and the agency.
  • Analyzing clinical data, conducting literature searches, participating in medical conferences, performing competitive analyses.
  • Lead and mentor Medical team members while also monitoring overall utilization of department resources.
  • Guide the creation of clinically cogent and engaging promotional materials and ensure effective use of clinical data to reach strategic brand objectives.
  • Consult and aid in the production of medical content such as speaker communications, KOL engagements, advisory boards, etc.
  • Improve medical literacy across agency groups and provide understanding on disease states, clinical trials, treatments and competition.
  • Guide submissions for client medical/regulatory approval processes and incorporate client and regulatory feedback.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.

PEOPLE LEADER

  • Responsible for and oversee their respective department.
  • Interview, select and supervise the activities of the department staff; communicate, interpret and discuss with team the company policies and procedures.
  • Determine job objectives, work methods and performance standards; review performance relative to departmental objectives discussion appraisal with each employee and performance; authorize and communicate salary changes, promotions, transfers, discipline, and discharge and administer all other personnel actions.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE JOB

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Advanced scientific/clinical degree, such as PhD, MD, Pharm D, with 7-10 years of experience in an agency or pharmaceutical industry supporting marketing, scientific communications, medical affairs or medical education; must have at least 4-5 years of advertising agency/marketing experience.
  • Someone who leads by example, fosters an environment of collaboration, and is proactive in leveraging their scientific acumen to drive business opportunities.
  • A passion for scientific storytelling, with a proven track record of communicating medical advances to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to lead and execute development of content with minimal review/direction.
  • Independently and accurately incorporate strategic concepts into projects as well as guide others to do so.
  • Understand business offerings and identify opportunities for organic account growth, including cross-selling and new business.
  • The ability to perform scientific literature searches and interpret complex clinical data.
  • Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills; insightful data analysis and accomplished presentation abilities and the drive to build client and team relationships.
  • Insightful, problem-solving, solution-oriented mind set; comfortable with leading client interaction and defending work and opinions.
  • Familiarity with FDA marketing regulations and AMA editorial style.
  • Willingness to travel.
