As part of a small, close knit team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a robust finance function that supports sustainable growth, product innovation and high quality operations.This role suits someone who thrives in a scaling environment, enjoys rolling up their sleeves, and wants their work to have a visible impact across the business.The Role As Management Accountant, you will take ownership of the day to day and monthly financial operations, managing the full finance cycle from transactional processing through to insightful management reporting and strategic support. You will work closely with operational teams, bringing clarity, structure and commercial insight to financial decision making, while continuously improving processes as the business grows.Key Responsibilities Financial Operations Process purchase invoices, ensuring accurate coding and approvalsManage accounts payable, including supplier setup, payment runs and query resolutionRaise sales invoices and manage accounts receivableCarry out credit control to maintain healthy debtor balancesPerform bank reconciliations and monitor cashflowPrepare and post journals including accruals, prepayments and stock adjustmentsTax and Compliance Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on timeEnsure compliance with financial policies, HMRC requirements and internal controlsCosting, Inventory and Margins Maintain cost accounting records across all product linesTrack and analyse costs relating to materials, bottling, packaging and logisticsCalculate and review gross margins, highlighting variances and opportunitiesSupport stock valuation and inventory reconciliationsBudgeting and Forecasting Support annual budgeting with accurate modelling and operational inputPrepare monthly and quarterly forecasts for revenue, costs and cashflowIdentify trends, risks and opportunities through clear financial analysisManagement Reporting Produce monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet and cashflowProvide meaningful commentary on performance versus budget and prior periodsPrepare reconcilations, schedules and audit support as requiredPresent financial information clearly and commercially to non finance stakeholdersIntercompany and Group Accounting Manage intercompany transactions and balancesEnsure accurate recharges, reconciliations and transfer pricing across group entitiesProcess Improvement Review and improve finance processes, controls and systemsSupport the implementation of new accounting tools or ERP systemsChampion a culture of accuracy, efficiency and continuous improvementAbout You Essential Qualified or part qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or strong QBEExperience in a hands on, end to end accounting roleSolid knowledge of bookkeeping, management accounting and reportingStrong Excel skills and confidence using accounting softwareHighly organised with excellent attention to detailProactive, confident and comfortable suggesting improvementsStrong communicator who can work effectively with non finance colleaguesDesirable Experience in FMCG, drinks or manufacturingExposure to cost accounting, product costing and inventoryExperience in a small or scaling business environmentWhat\’s On Offer The chance to shape and grow the finance function of a premium whisky businessA varied, interesting role with real ownership and autonomyCollaborative, supportive and entrepreneurial team cultureCompetitive salary and benefitsClear opportunity for career development as the business expandsIf you want a finance role where your work genuinely matters, and where you can grow alongside an ambitious whisky business, this could be the perfect next step.
