Finance Director – Hybrid
This is a chance to join an exciting nutrition business in a group role encompassing a recently acquired manufacturing business alongside the existing branded company.
This is a key role in the executive board of the new group as they begin to merge where you will support both businesses and work closely with the CEO/Founder in advising on strategy and growth with a view on working towards a CFO position in the future.
The Role
- Take overall responsibility and accountability for identifying, developing, implementing, and monitoring the required frameworks of internal financial controls that support the 10 accounting cycles and work with others to as required to identify and mitigate risks and/or weaknesses in policies and procedures.
- Working with other executives, members of the senior leadership teams, and members of the finance teams identify, develop, implement, and maintain the production of meaningful financial data that satisfies all relevant laws, legislation, codes of conduct, and/or Company policies and procedures.
- Working with other executives and members of the senior leadership teams develop, implement, maintain the policies, processes, and systems needed to proactively manage and report cashflow accurately and as needed to support strategic business decisions.
- Take overall responsibility for cashflow throughout the Group and use the knowledge gained to maintain the integrity of funds, securities, and other valuable documents.
- Possess a detailed understanding of and take overall responsibility for maintaining all the Groups liabilities. E.g. legal contracts, statutory and tax obligations, hidden liabilities, and expectations from loan covenants and/or the Board of Directors.
- Working with internal and external colleagues as required to develop, implement, maintain, and interpret balanced scorecards, dashboards, and other financial statements to evaluate and communicate the Groups expected financial performance.
- Take overall responsibility and accountability for the Groups accounting and finance policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with investment bankers, finance analysts, shareholders, and the CEO in ways that maintain adequate sources of capital to ensure that the Groups financial commitments are met and when possible exceeded.
- Take overall responsibility and accountability for the policies, procedures, and information programmes needed to manage Shareholder relationships, and as required work with the CEO to develop new/enhanced tools that ensure Shareholders receive relevant and timely information.
- Negotiate and administer the banking and loan agreements needed to support each entity of the Group, and work with internal and external to ensure that the required capital is available when needed.
- Co-ordinate the long-term financial plans for the Group, assess the financial plans implicit to these plans, and as needed develop alternative ways to satisfy the financial requirements.
- Take overall responsibility and accountability for the setting of financial controls and levels of authority and ensure that the relevant controls are in place for the approval of financial commitments and/or resources.
- Take overall responsibility and accountability for the financial aspects of bids, contracts, and leases.
- Any other reasonable tasks as requested by the CEO, a Board Member, or Shareholder.
Ideal Candidate
- BA/MA in finance, accounting, or economics.
- Excellent knowledge of laws, legislation, and regulation that affect all entities within the Group.
- Previous knowledge of managing financial matters within the manufacturing sector would be an advantage.
- Good working knowledge of Transfer Pricing and negotiating loan agreements is a distinct advantage.
- Possess the proven skills to lead, develop, and manage teams of likeminded professionals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to provide information to colleagues etc. clearly, concisely, and when possible, without the use of jargon.
- Minimum of 5 years experience of working in a finance role at a senior manager level.
- Minimum of 10 years experience of working in a finance role (preferably manufacturing).
- Proven experience of leading a finance function and providing advice, support, and guidance to the CEO, Board, and Senior Management Teams.
- Proven and extensive experience of managing cashflow.
- Proven experience of negotiating and procuring debt and equity capital.
