THE ROLE

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • FDS, PLC, HMI and SCADA software design and development.
  • Provide technical input to review contract software requirements.
  • Assist project managers to identify technical and time scale risks.
  • Prepare and review the software product requirements, design and interface specifications.
  • Prepare and review test requirements for specific software applications/units to standards as defined within the codes of practice.
  • Ensuring that system and unit design specifications comply with the contractual safety standards.
  • Identification of software related variation order opportunities.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures concerning safety, environment and quality, and corresponding ISO record keeping requirements.

THE PERSON

The key skills and qualities of a PLC Programmer are:

  • IT / Electrical qualifications advantageous.
  • 3 years software development experience, ideally with experience of at least one of the following platforms: Siemens, Mitsubishi, Schneider and Allen Bradley.
  • Ability to multi-task and consistently hit deadlines.
  • A track record of being able to learn and ask questions.
  • A commitment and drive for quality, technical excellence, and results.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and a helpful demeanour.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • An ability to meet deadlines and expectations.
