Primary Function
We are seeking a Lead Event Technician in London to work within the Broadcast Event Services team, based onsite with our client who is one of the world’s largest corporate banking companies.
This role is responsible for working within a team of Senior Technicians and Technicians to deliver end-to-end event production including technical coordination, presentation setup and support, AV/VC services, streaming, and event management.
The ideal candidate should have a high technical background with an advanced understanding of audio visual systems, specifically Ross Carbonite switcher, PTZ cameras, Cisco Telepresence and Yamaha audio consoles. The candidate requires experience of successfully planning and delivering events, strong problem solving skills, exposure to installed audio-visual systems and the ability to train/act as a mentor.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides top-class customer service skills, being able to explain our services to technical and non-technical event planners as needed
- Acts as a representative of the leadership team, playing an active role in demonstrating company values and leading by example
- Responsible for the successful planning, staffing and delivery of event requests, held within the clients fully equipped event spaces
- Able to operate a range of installed AV systems to an advanced level, including Ross Carbonite switcher, PTZ Cameras, Cisco Telepresence Units and Yamaha LS9 audio consoles.
- Able to operate (or willingness to learn) other event audio-visual systems as required
- Mentor technicians in collaboration with the Operations Manager
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting AV equipment when and where necessary
- Leads on maintaining audio visual equipment as required.
- Escalates equipment failures to appropriate inhouse teams and assists with the resolution as needed to maintain service levels
- Reports staff, client or technical failures to the management team and responsible for gathering information required to complete the associated fault forms, within an agreed SLA time period, along with ideas to avoid repeat occurrences
- Ensures SOPs are applied, and that contingency planning is included in event support
- Overall responsibility for the technical team successfully meeting team goals
- Responsible for ensuring all event data is documented for the purpose of reporting
- Is involved in, or owns, special projects or assignments as outlined by the leadership team and executes them within the given timeline
- Leads on R&D efforts, identifying ways in which we can improve quality of output, efficiency through automation/tooling and process improvements
- Assists with the creation of SOP documents, completing detailed event planning documents as well as utilizing internal systems
- Owns the technical support lifecycle and is responsible for managing technical risks throughout pre-production planning, execution and post event
- Works alongside client stakeholders to oversee the delegation of administrative tasks as required such as covering periods of annual leave
- Supports post production services for event recording delivery
- Setting the gold standard for delivering high-quality service to our clients
- Adheres to broadcast standards for remote and recorded attendees
- Responsible for the training of staff and improving their technical proficiency
- Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
- Develop and support relationships within both the client and wider Dreamtek team
- Performs other ad hoc duties as required by the business
Skills & Qualifications
- Highly proficient in operating Ross Carbonite switcher, PTZ Cameras, Cisco Telepresence Units and Yamaha LS9 audio consoles
- Experience working in a broadcast environment, with specific exposure to operating in a gallery/master control room setting
- Able to perform basic video editing tasks such as top and tail and adding lower thirds
- Able to effectively lead and communicate with other remote locations during multi site hybrid events
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a diverse, cross-functional team
- Self starter that can demonstrate being open to learning
- Understanding and experience of various event formats, including Q&A, training events, town hall meetings etc.
Education & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of professional technical live event experience
