The job involves managing and delivering day-to-day People support for your dedicated business area. This includes employee relations matters, engagement and wellbeing initiatives, performance and talent cycle activities, people policy guidance, colleague learning & development, and people project support.
With a keen focus on operational excellence and the employee life cycle, this role is key to connecting the strategic direction, functional people plans, and operational delivery. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate HR best practice and coach and develop Managers to achieve, managing any risks associated.
By working closely with the People Team & key business stakeholders, you will work proactively to identify and manage people impact with a good understanding of current and future business plans. You will be a key contact for operational people plans and projects for your dedicated areas, providing directional support for people matters and being the point of contact for escalations or problem resolution.
In this role, you will be a trusted partner, shaping how day-to-day people support works for your responsible areas in terms of the colleague and manager experience, having a commercial mindset, being proactive, and driving manager competence and confidence. You will report into the People Business Partner and work closely with the wider People Team, supporting the implementation of people initiatives through inclusive and efficient operational activity.
You will provide People Team support to your designated business areas to help shape and implement People Plans, as well as working with our ER third-party provider to support leaders and managers with their escalated employee relations matters. You will provide guidance and support to line managers to help them manage their teams.
You will focus on engagement, inclusion, and wellbeing, with simple and scalable interventions, clear processes, and learning solutions, building trusted relationships with managers, people team colleagues, and our third-party ER provider. You will be responsible for proactive and regular data analysis for your business area to ensure people data is accurate, trends and issues are proactively identified and discussed with the People Team and/or business managers for appropriate action to be taken.
This is a collaborative role where you will work across the wider People Team function to support, drive, and own projects. You will identify gaps and appropriate solutions in conversation with People Business Partners. You will play an active role in the team by taking the opportunity to share best practice, ideas, and learning with your colleagues. You will lead by example by upholding Dreams values.
Working closely with the People Business Partners, Policy Manager, and our third-party ER provider, you will help to shape people plans based on your understanding of the current and future needs for your dedicated business area/s.
The Person
You will have previous HR experience in a multi-tasked and fast-paced environment, ideally having worked within Retail. You will have broad, up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and can apply this logically to the real world. You will be obsessed with good HR and ER practices and have a keen interest in staying abreast of the latest HR developments/trends as well as legislation. A HR qualification or education background is desirable but not required.
You have experience in challenging the status quo in the right way, to build trust and drive business performance. You will thrive in a busy environment, able to plan, balance, and prioritise key project activities such as policy development and process simplification. You can provide evidence of managing relationships with a wide range of professionals and stakeholders. You are an advocate for progress and process improvement.
You are comfortable with ambiguity, commercially confident, and can assess risks and create adaptable plans to manage this. You are an excellent communicator, curious, and work with integrity.
