We are looking for an Industrial Sewing Machine Technician to support our Bed Production team by maintaining, servicing and repairing the industrial sewing machines used across our factory. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience working with sewing machinery in a manufacturing, upholstery, textiles, furniture or similar production environment.
You will be part of a small maintenance team, helping to keep production running smoothly by responding to breakdowns, carrying out planned maintenance and making adjustments to ensure machines are running safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, repair and service industrial sewing machines used within bed production.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and electronic faults where required.
- Carry out preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and improve machine reliability.
- Adjust, calibrate and set up machines to meet production requirements.
- Support machine installations, changes and improvements where needed.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance, servicing and repair activity.
- Identify parts required and support with spare parts stock control.
- Work closely with Production Operatives and the wider Maintenance team to resolve issues quickly and safely.
Skills and Experience
- Experience working with, repairing or adjusting industrial sewing machines would be ideal, but we are also open to candidates with strong practical mechanical skills who are willing to learn this equipment.
- Experience in manufacturing, textiles, upholstery, furniture, bedding or another hands-on production environment would be useful.
- Good practical repair skills and confidence working with tools, machinery or mechanical equipment.
- Electrical or electronic fault-finding knowledge would be helpful, but formal electrical qualifications are not required.
- A willingness to learn new machines, systems and ways of working.
- Able to work as part of a small team and build confidence working independently over time.
- Good communication skills and a helpful, proactive approach.
- Welding, soldering, fabrication or previous sewing machine experience would be advantageous, but full experience across all areas is not expected as training will be offered.
