The Opportunity
We have recently founded a fast-growing talent management agency which sits at the intersection of talent management and global commercial brands. We are looking for an ambitious, high-energy Financial Controller to build our finance function from the ground up. This isn’t just a reporting role. You will be a key strategic partner, helping us navigate complex international royalty streams, commercial brand partnerships, and the scaling of a new business. Responsibilities
- Financial Strategy & Growth: Work closely with leadership to provide commercial insights on talent deals, brand partnerships, and international expansion.
- International Operations: Manage multi-currency transactions and navigate the tax implications of global tours and international commercial endorsements.
- Talent Accounting: Oversee the end-to-end process for talent payments, ensuring accurate commission calculations and timely payouts.
- Financial Control: Implement robust financial processes, from monthly management accounts and cash flow forecasting to P&L analysis.
- Compliance & Audit: Manage US tax filings, local business compliance, and coordinate with external auditors or tax advisors as needed.
- Budgeting: Build and maintain annual budgets and rolling forecasts that reflect the fast-paced nature of the entertainment industry.
Ideal Profile
- Industry Expert: You have a solid background in Music, Entertainment, or a Talent Agency environment.
- Commercially Minded: You don’t just report the data; you interpret it. You are motivated by growth and look for ways to optimize margins and revenue.
- Technical & Accurate: You have high attention to detail and a strong grasp of technical accounting. You are comfortable being "hands-on" while the team is lean.
- Ambitious: You are a self-starter who thrives in a "startup" environment and is looking to grow into a Finance Director or CFO role as the company scales.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certification: At least Part-Qualified. Full qualification is a plus.
- International Exposure: Proven experience dealing with international entities, withholding taxes, or multi-currency reporting.
- Software: Proficiency in modern cloud accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Xero) and advanced Excel skills.
