Dream Medical is currently working with a Ministry of Defence (MoD) medical centre in Tidworth to recruit a Registered Nurse in Mental Health. This position is to start ASAP on a full-time basis, Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours/week, on a fixed 3-month contract.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assessing and talking to patients about their problems and planning their care;
  • Building trusting relationships with patients, listening to and interpreting their needs and concerns;
  • Ensuring the correct administration of medication, including injections, and monitoring treatment results;
  • Responding to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner and understanding the source of distress;
  • Applying de-escalation techniques to help manage emotions and behaviour;
  • Participating in group and/or one-to-one therapy sessions, individually and with other health professionals;
  • Providing evidence-based individual therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy for depression and anxiety;
  • Organising social events to develop patients' social skills and reduce feelings of isolation;
  • Preparing and maintaining patient records, care plans, and risk assessments;
  • Observing legal requirements relevant to the setting or patient group;
  • Working with patients' families and carers to educate them about mental health issues.
