We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and support our current team of Engineering Managers. You’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership and will play a key role in driving technical excellence, mentoring Engineering Managers and their teams, and shaping the future of our Engineering function.

With a strong technical foundation, and ideally an Engineering background, you’ll have a passion for innovation and will thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. You’ll navigate large-scale challenges, manage ambiguity, and drive organisational success.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys balancing people leadership, technical oversight, and strategic impact, all while making a difference in a HealthTech scale up.

What would I be doing day to day?
As a Senior Engineering Manager, no two days will be the same, and you’ll have the chance to tackle challenges beyond the usual day-to-day operations.

Your key focuses will be:

  • Leading the Engineering Management Team
  • Shaping team topology, designing team structures to support growth and efficiency
  • Elevating performance by refining practices and processes. You’ll set patterns and guidelines which will enable Engineers to focus on complex problems
  • Improving operations by enhancing security, support, and incident management to minimise user impact.
  • Developing careers and creating pathways for growth, supporting individual contributors and leaders alike.
  • Driving technical excellence, advocating for the adoption of best practices such as CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality to improve the overall health of our applications.
  • Partnering with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
  • Supporting Engineers’ growth while encouraging creativity and continuous improvement
  • Leading strategically, aligning technical and operational strategies with business priorities.
  • Managing stakeholders and ensuring clear communication and alignment across business and engineering teams

OK, I’m interested. What experience do I need to have?

  • You’ll have successfully delivered cultural change at all levels of an Engineering function previously
  • Proven ability to use evidence to identify priorities and set strategic goals
  • Leader of leaders with experience guiding teams and individuals through periods of growth and change
  • Coaching and developing teams through complex changes in architecture and domain ownership
  • Establishing tech guidelines to ensure a high technical standard whilst giving room for creativity
  • Technical background and familiarity with distributed architectures
  • Ability to identify and articulate the technological and organisational needs now and for the future, representing these at Exec level
  • Experience in a similar regulated industry is a significant advantage, it would be a bonus if that was within HealthTech or Digital Health.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with Azure tools and eco-system
  • Previous use of logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Datadog & Pingdom.
  • Familiarity with healthcare software, EMR/EHR systems, and relevant industry knowledge
