We are looking for an Interim CTO to step into a PE-backed fintech / SaaS business at a critical point of growth. This is not a caretaker role. This is about bringing clarity, pace and direction to a technology function that needs to move quickly.
The business has strong commercial traction, but technology now needs to catch up and scale with it. There are likely a few familiar challenges:
- Engineering teams are busy, but not always aligned
- Delivery is happening, but not at the pace the business needs
- Architecture decisions are starting to create friction
- Product and technology are not as joined up as they should be
- Leadership bandwidth is stretched
They need someone who has seen this before and fixed it before.
In the first 90 days, you will:
- Assess the current technology landscape, team and delivery model
- Bring structure and focus to engineering and product delivery
- Make clear decisions on architecture, tooling and priorities
- Stabilise any immediate risks or blockers
- Support and develop existing technology leadership
- Act as a credible voice with the exec team and investors
This is about impact quickly, not perfection over time.
This role will suit a CTO or senior technology leader who has operated in high-growth, PE-backed or venture-backed SaaS or fintech environments.
You will likely:
- Have stepped into complex or underperforming environments before
- Be comfortable making decisions with incomplete information
- Know how to balance speed, quality and commercial reality
- Be hands-on enough to understand the detail, but senior enough to lead at board level
- Have credibility with both engineers and investors
Why this role:
- Immediate impact and visibility at exec and board level
- Backed by investors who want to move quickly
- A clear mandate to assess, stabilise and scale
- Potential to extend or evolve into a longer-term role if desired
If you are an experienced Interim CTO (or a VP Engineering / Head of Engineering who has operated at that level) and are available or coming available soon, it would be great to speak. Equally, if you know someone who is known for going into challenging environments and making things work, feel free to tag or share.
