Head of Engineering – Scalable SaaS Leadership

Location: London, Berlin, Amsterdam or Remote (Continental Europe)

Structure: Executive Leadership – Full-time

Sector: B2B SaaS / Cloud Infrastructure / Data Platforms

Stage: Series B to Series C – High-Growth Scale-up

Compensation: £140,000–£185,000 base + LTIP/Equity Potential

The Opportunity

A high-growth, VC-backed enterprise software company is entering a significant scale-up phase across Europe and beyond. Operating at the convergence of cloud infrastructure and data intelligence, the business is trusted by global enterprises and is preparing for rapid expansion, both technologically and geographically. To support this journey, the company is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the evolution of its engineering strategy, team and delivery model across multiple markets. The role is pivotal in driving platform excellence, team scale-up and future readiness for strategic milestones, including M&A or IPO potential.

The Role

Reporting to the CTO and working as part of the senior leadership team, the Head of Engineering will be responsible for:

  • Leading and scaling a high-performing engineering organisation across multiple European hubs
  • Implementing modern engineering best practices: CI/CD, DevOps, microservices and test automation
  • Driving hiring and structure for growth, ensuring team productivity and cultural alignment across geographies
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Data, Security and Commercial leads to ensure delivery velocity and quality
  • Setting a high standard for technical architecture, software design, and operational resilience
  • Supporting investor dialogue and technical due diligence through the next phases of funding or exit

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Head/VP of Engineering within B2B SaaS, Data, Cloud or Infrastructure-led environments
  • Demonstrated ability to scale engineering functions from start-up to mid-size across borders
  • Deep expertise in cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure or GCP), Kubernetes, microservices, and distributed systems
  • Comfortable working in English-speaking teams and scaling multilingual/multinational engineering squads
  • Experience working in venture-backed or private-equity funded environments, ideally from Series A to C
  • Based in Continental Europe (Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain or similar) with flexibility to travel when needed
