We are looking for a qualified finance leader who understands subscription businesses and can turn that knowledge into better reporting, stronger controls and more efficient ways of working.
Draycir is an award-winning software development company based in Leicester. Our products help businesses streamline document processes, reduce manual work and improve cash flow. With the development of Spindle Select, our cloud subscription platform, this is an opportunity to shape the finance function as our business evolves.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of finance, lead an established team and provide practical commercial insight to the leadership team. You will be close enough to the detail to resolve problems yourself, while setting priorities and delivering improvements across the function.
What you will do
- Own management accounts, month-end reporting, balance sheet controls, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.
- Manage subscription accounting and deferred revenue, with reliable reconciliations between billing systems and the general ledger.
- Help the business understand recurring revenue, renewals, churn, product margins, partner discounts and cloud delivery costs.
- Support pricing decisions and assess the financial impact of moving existing customers to cloud subscriptions.
- Complete and optimise our ERP implementation with our external supplier, improve system integration and reduce manual processing.
- Lead and develop the finance team, oversee compliance with professional advisers and maintain records suitable for investment due diligence.
What matters most
You must have personally owned subscription or recurring revenue accounting. You should be able to explain how you have managed advance billing, deferred revenue and renewals, and how you ensured that billing, cash and reported revenue reconciled.
What you will bring
- A recognised accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Experience leading finance in an SME, or a substantial finance team, with hands‑on responsibility for reporting, controls and financial planning.
- Proven subscription finance experience and strong commercial judgement.
- Examples of systems or process improvements you personally delivered, with measurable results.
- The ability to communicate clearly, challenge constructively and take ownership of problems through to resolution.
Software or SaaS business experience is strongly preferred, particularly where subscriptions sit alongside licences, support or services. Experience of Sage Intacct, Chargebee or similar systems would be valuable.
Your approach
We want someone who takes initiative and gets things done. You will be comfortable investigating a reconciliation issue, supporting your team and discussing pricing or profitability with the leadership team. We will look for evidence of improvements you have completed and the difference they made.
